Material's psychological dimension. How the material selection in product design affects user experience and well-being

The purpose of this thesis work is to explore the "psychological" properties of materials and understand their role in providing long lasting pleasant experiences. Through the analysis of the role of materials in the "dimensions" of the product (aesthetics, usability, personality of the product), thanks to the concept of user-experience and the analysis of case studies, a series of guidelines will be defined to support designers in the creating emotionally lasting products and pleasurable experiences with and through materials.
